Triple crown accreditation
Achieving membership of bodies such as AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB requires a guaranteed degree of excellence from the accredited schools.
Currently, Strathclyde is one of only 55 in the world to hold all 3 of the above hallmarks of excellence.
Strathclyde was the first school to go forward for AMBA accreditation and be awarded it in Scotland. In fact, AMBA has just completed a very rigorous review of the Strathclyde MBA (2009) and the school has just been told they have been reaccredited for a further five years.
Strathclyde Business School was awarded its first EQUIS accreditation in 2001, and has been reaccredited in 2009.
Finally, during December 2003, Strathclyde attained the AACSB award and has been re-awarded in 2010.
EQUIS Accreditation EQUIS is the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement, and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration. It is the newest of the big 3 accrediting bodies and has the smallest membership. It was formed to address the European problem of diverse national accreditation systems, but is gaining ground outside Europe. Currently (November 2009), there are only 121 business schools in the world with EQUIS standing, and only 3 in Switzerland (IMD, Univ. of St.Gallen and Univ. of Strathclyde Business School). www.efmd.org
AMBA Accreditation originating in the UK, the Association of MBAs is the only one of the three main bodies to accredit MBA courses rather than the host institutions. www.mbaworld.com
AACSB Accreditation Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business is the USA's best known accreditation body. Despite a very American membership (few business schools outside the USA have this award), it remains the kitemark for any business school with world-class ambitions. Only 3 schools that operate in Switzerland are accredited, IMD, Univ. of St. Gallen and Strathclyde University Business School. www.aacsb.edu
